ONAM celebrations at Chandigarh

Chandigarh, Sector 46: It’s a time of great joy and flowers for the Keralites residing in tri-city. Onam is a delightful festival for every Malayalee.
St. Mary’s Orthodox Youth forum has organized an Onam celebration for the community at St. Mary’s School ground, Sector 46, Chandigarh.
Mr. M.M. Thomas, Principal, St. Mary’s School was the chief guest of the event in which Fr. John. K. Jacob addressed the gathering. Various cultural programmes like, traditional Thiruvathira (Folk Dance), Mohiniyattam etc., were performed. A floral carpet namely Pookalam (Floral Rangoli), was made by the youngsters of the community as a symbolic gesture of welcoming the kerala King Mahabali. A tasty “Onam Sadhya” with 22 Kerala dishes were served which been nostalgic to everyone. Why should we miss Kerala? Chandigarh treats us homely.
