Visit of His Grace Dr Yuhanon Mar Dioscoros to Sydney

HIS GRACE Dr Yuhanon Mar Dioscoros, Metropolitan, Diocese of Chennai arrived at the Sydney Domestic airport (T2) from Brisbane at around 5:15PM. Upon arrival, Thirumeni was received with bouquet of flowers by St. Thomas Indian Orthodox Cathedral (STIOC) Vicar Rev. Fr. Thomas Varghese (Saji Achen), St. Mary’s Indian Orthodox Church (SMIOC) Vicar Rev. Fr. Benny David (Benny Achen), STIOC Trustee Mr Manu Mathen, STIOC Secretary Mr Bobby Philips, STIOC Committee members Mr Raju Issac, Mr Rejo Skaria, Mr Justin Alexander, STIOC congregation member Mr Vino Kurian and few committee members from SMIOC. It was a blessed moment for us at the airport with Thirumeni.

HIS GRACE along with STIOC Vicar and managing committee members, SMIOC Vicar and Mr Vino Kurian then proceeded back to the Cathedral for the evening prayers.

Evening Prayer at Cathedral

Thirumeni arrived at the Cathedral at 6:45PM and was welcomed by the congregation members by ringing of Church bells, singing the welcome song and holding of candles by the Altar boys. Thirumeni visited the Altar and gave reverence to our Lord before proceeding to lead us in the evening prayers along with Saji Achen and Benny Achen. Around 40 to 50 members attended the evening prayer which ended around 7:30PM. Thirumeni then interacted directly with many of the families who were present and especially with the family members of the yet to be ordained new Altar boys.

Meeting with Sunday school Building Committee

After a quick snack break Thirumeni accommodated a quick meeting with the Sunday school building committee to get some quick updates. HIS GRACE then proceeded for a meeting with MGOCSM & OCYM.

Meeting with STIOC MGOCSM & OCYM group

The MGOCSM Secretary gave a comprehensive report on the activities for the past year as well as the activities planned for the following year. Thirumeni was highly impressed and appreciated the leadership shown both in spiritual as well as charity work that the group has been involved and blessed each one of them for a bright future. All activities at Cathedral concluded by 9:30PM and proceeded along with Mr Shajan Alampallil for taking rest.
